The traditional motorbike service "Anlassen" found its crowning conclusion on Sunday afternoon with the parade over the Nordschleife. According to police estimates, a total of 7,000 bikers took part in the ride through the Green Hell. This large response had not been expected at first. Due to bad weather and fog, the motorbike event had initially started with only about 2,000 bikers in the Grand Prix paddock of the Nürburgring. "Anlassen" marks the start of the two-wheeler season at the Nürburgring every year. For those who came to the event this year, there were various programme items in the Grand Prix paddock - for example, various demonstrations by the Rhineland-Palatinate state police, the German Red Cross, the driving safety centre or the motorbike brand POLO. In addition, around 25 exhibitors on the subject of motorbikes awaited the visitors, as well as a look behind the scenes during guided tours of the Nürburgring Medical Centre. The motorbike service "Anlassen" has been cancelled. Due to the forecast of wintry conditions, the Nürburgring's operating company decided as early as Thursday not to allow the two-wheeled event to take place. This is to allow all visitors, partners and service providers the best possible planning. Travelling to the Nürburgring by car is still worthwhile at the weekend. The weather-independent offers will be open as planned. The tourist drives are also scheduled to take place - however, changes at short notice are possible here at any time due to the weather and will be announced here. According to Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, the expected weather conditions could already endanger the safety of motorcyclists on their journey. Furthermore, under the current forecasts, various programme items such as motorbike demonstrations would not be feasible. At the Nürburgring, an intensive search was also underway to find an alternative date for the motorbike service at short notice. Unfortunately, due to the tight schedule at the Nürburgring, it is not possible to hold the event, which requires the Grand Prix paddock as a full-day event area and the Nordschleife for the motorbike parade, in a timely manner. Those responsible deeply regret the cancellation, which had no alternative. After the Corona-related cancellations of "Anlassen" in the past two years, the team of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG had been looking forward to finally being able to hold the traditional event again without any restrictions. The RCN GLP regularity test, which was to have started on Saturday, 2 April, was also cancelled. With a successful event mix, happy fans and perfect weather, the Nürburgring started the event season last weekend. With a darts gala in front of more than 3,000 visitors to kick things off, the first race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series and all-day tourist rides on the Nordschleife, there was plenty on offer throughout the weekend. Next Sunday, it's now the bikers' turn. At the traditional motorbike service "Anlassen" they can look forward to their official start of the season at the Nürburgring. Flashing chrome, exchanges among like-minded people in the Grand Prix paddock, a joint parade around the Nordschleife - for thousands of motorcyclists, the start of the season at "Anlassen" is an integral part of their personal annual programme. This Sunday, 3 April, the programme starts at 10 a.m. for the two-wheeled enthusiasts who travel from all over Germany and nearby countries. Once again, there will be tourist rides on the Grand Prix circuit as well as various demonstrations by the Rhineland-Palatinate state police, the German Red Cross, the driving safety centre or the motorbike brand POLO. Live music, the open day at the Medical Centre with guided tours and a live auction are also part of the programme before the ecumenical church service starts at 3 pm. After the blessing for all motorcyclists, the joint parade over the Nordschleife will start at 4:15 pm. The ride into the Green Hell is the emotional highlight of "Anlassen" for the participants. The event for motorcyclists is the next highlight in the versatile calendar of the Nürburgring. Last weekend already showed the mix that makes up the multifunctional event location. On Friday evening, the Darts Gala celebrated its premiere at the Nürburgring in the ring°arena. The big names of darts and more than 3,000 fans were present at the indoor event. There was a great party inside the arena and in the stands. After the successful start, the continuation for 2023 is already firmly planned. A date will be announced soon. Thousands of fans were also present live on Saturday at the first race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. On the grandstands of the Grand Prix circuit, on the starting grid and in the paddock as well as around the Nordschleife, the visitors followed the action. Finally, the focus is back on the fan experience. At the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h-Nürburgring, the unique party atmosphere will return to the Green Hell for the 50th anniversary, and at Rock am Ring thousands of festival visitors will finally celebrate together again. Those who want to feel like a racing driver themselves this year are also in good hands at the Nürburgring. The training sessions for everyone with the new Formula 4 cars provide unique memories. Despite the different event formats, thrilling motorsport is still the focus at the legendary race track. The racing series and vehicles are characterised by an enormous variety. Impressive race trucks, such as at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix, are just as much a part of the experience as international top-class sport in the DTM or the ADAC GT Masters. In future, participants in the Nürburgring Driving Academy training sessions will sit in ultra-modern Formula 4 cars. With breathtaking cornering speeds and explosive acceleration - from 0 to 100 km/h: 2.9 seconds - they will race around the Grand Prix Track. Motorsport returns to the Green Hell. The first race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series will open the 2021 event season on the world's most demanding race track on 27 March. Many different events await until November. Tried and tested spectator concepts will once again ensure that fans can follow the action live at the track. Together with RPR1, "Radio Nürburgring" is also being redesigned and guarantees that the racing action can be followed worldwide via internet radio for the first time. In addition, the Nürburgring can look forward to a new strong partner from this season: the performance brand BMW M is expanding its commitment at the historic race track. Despite many imponderables in Corona times, those responsible feel well positioned for the coming season. The Nürburgring calendar is well filled in 2021. That alone would not be news. In times of the pandemic, however, this is particularly remarkable. For a year now, the Corona measures have dominated the event industry. And even though Rock am Ring has already had to be cancelled, there is good news: Motorsport can take place. This includes events like the ADAC TOTAL 24h Race, the DTM, the ADAC Truck Grand Prix or the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix. But so do the numerous trackdays or driving trainings, such as the Nürburgring Formula courses. "Despite Corona, our race track is fully booked until mid-November - seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday," explains Nürburgring Managing Director Mirco Markfort, who steers the Nürburgring through the crisis together with a team of 200 permanent employees and around 1,100 temporary staff. And yet he also admits: "You can't really guarantee anything in these times." Although the Nürburgring is operating relatively successfully under the general conditions, the economic success cannot be compared to the years before the pandemic. And yet the Nürburgring is trying to make a lot of things possible again in order to continue to play its role as the economic engine of an entire region. "With our concepts last year, we made sure that many events and offers could take place. In doing so, we have helped to maintain jobs in the region and in the industry as a whole. We will continue to fulfil this commitment," Markfort explains. Tried and tested concepts for spectators along the routeThat's why, he says, it's important for the Nürburgring to actively build on its proven concepts and bring spectators back to the track in the long term. "The fans are the emotional framework that make every event special. In addition, ticket sales are an existential economic factor for every organiser," explains the managing director. The non-contact spectator concepts were therefore further developed with the same health experts as in 2020. The Institute for Hygiene and Public Health of the University of Bonn, the MVZ Labor Koblenz and the German Red Cross District Association Ahrweiler again played a decisive role in this. This is another reason why Markfort is optimistic about the future. "We feel well positioned and are in contact with the authorities regarding our concepts. Nürburgring fans are already familiar with the BMW M Power grandstand on the Grand Prix circuit and the advertising hoardings on the "old pit lane" of the Nordschleife.
