Int. ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix: More than 100,000 fans expected at the Nürburgring

30.06.2023

The final preparations have been made and the anticipation is rising for the season highlight of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship: from 13 to 16 July 2023, Europe's best truck racers will once again engage in a thrilling battle for valuable European Championship points at the Nürburgring. The organisers of the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix are expecting more than 100,000 spectators.

"The popularity of the motorsport fans for our event is enormous, which we can clearly see in the ticketing. The fans from Germany and abroad can look forward to a spectacular weekend full of action and entertainment," says Marc Hennerici, Managing Director of the organiser ADAC Travel & Event Mittelrhein GmbH.

Top drivers like the current European Champion Norbert Kiss as well as the local heroes Jochen Hahn and Sascha Lenz will start on the legendary Eifel circuit and will offer the fans thrilling motorsport to touch as well as the race truckers of the French Championship.

Thrilling motorsport: Goodyear FIA ETRC & GT Masters
Another prominent guest appearance will see two motorsport worlds meet this year: for the first time since 2012, the popular ADAC GT Masters racing series will make a pit stop at the Truck Grand Prix.

The super sports cars from manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche or McLaren, 550 hp strong and 250 km/h fast at the Nürburgring, will meet race trucks with 1,000 hp and a top speed limit of 160 km/h. As different as the performance, as sustainable the fuel: both racing series rely on alternative energies such as hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) with which CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 90 per cent.

World premiere: presentation of the first fully electric race truck
In addition, with the Bio-LNG-powered pace truck from IVECO, a second sustainable technology is on the grid, and motorsport fans can also expect a small world premiere: Iveco and Team Hahn Racing present the IVECO eTruck, the world's first electric race truck. The launch of the first fully electric race truck is another important step and building block in the Goodyear FIA ETRC's sustainability transformation to make truck racing even more sustainable and reduce the series' carbon footprint.

Top decision-makers at Commercial Vehicle Show, TruckSymposium and Innovation Camp
One of the largest industrial fairs in the commercial vehicle sector will take place in the adjacent exhibition park throughout the weekend. National and international truck manufacturers, suppliers and freight forwarders will present themselves to the public on an area of around 10,000 square metres.

In addition, the Goodyear FIA ETRC Innovation Camp in the paddock will showcase the sustainable (drive) technologies of tomorrow on all days. This is also a topic of the ADAC/TÜV Rheinland TruckSymposium, which will take place on Friday, 14 July at the Bitburger Event Center (Nürburgring Boulevard 1, 53520 Nürburg). High-ranking experts from politics and business will exchange views on solutions for the logistics of tomorrow. Interested trade visitors can register for the symposium here by 7 July.

Family entertainment with traffic education
During the entire race weekend, visitors can expect a varied supporting programme: from trucker parade to fan village and trucker camp to children's land, where, in addition to duck rodeo and bouncy castles, there will also be a traffic event for children for the first time this year. The ADAC Mittelrhein and Blicki e.V. will sensitise the little ones to the dangers of trucks in road traffic. Blicki the kangaroo will explain the important traffic rules and sources of danger to the children at various learning stations and on the Truck Grand Prix truck, keyword blind spot. The joint campaign is under the patronage of Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing.

Country & Party Music with Fireworks
This year, the Müllenbachschleife will once again be the scene of a musical extravaganza. For the first time, there will be party music in addition to country music, as requested by the truck community. On Friday, 14 July, US shooting star Jessica Lynn, the band Gone Country and perennial favourite Tom Astor will make country hearts beat faster from 7 p.m., and fans can expect a musical surprise. One day later, at the same time, Tobee, Schürze, Julian Benz, Markus Becker and Isi Glück will create a cracking party atmosphere in the Müllenbachschleife with the traditional fireworks as another highlight.

Charity actions for the Ahr valley
In the spirit of the #SolidAHRität campaign, various charity activities are planned for the entire weekend, the proceeds of which will benefit the flood victims and the reconstruction of the Ahr Valley: from the mobile Ahr Valley Store with local products and XXL art for the Ahr Valley to the Ahr Valley Bakery Truck, in which Katrin 'Tinka' Oschmann, known from the Kabel1 series 'Trucker Babe', will sell, among other things, specially designed Truck Grand Prix donuts.

Job fair for people interested in a career
One topic that concerns Tinka, but also the entire trucking scene, is the shortage of skilled workers. The Truck Grand Prix Job Expo, which the ADAC is organising together with SVG, Nürburgring, IHK, Federal Employment Agency and Job Centre from 14 to 16 July from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the ring°boulevard (Nürburgring Boulevard 1, 53520 Nürburg), is dedicated to this topic.

The fair is a contact point for people interested in a career, who can meet potential employers at the stands of the forwarding and logistics companies and exchange information about career prospects. At the same time, they can have their application documents checked by the employment agency and experts will give specialist presentations: from training and further education opportunities to the Qualification Opportunities Act. Admission to the fair is free.
