Nürburgring welcomes 18 new apprentices

02.08.2024

On 1 August, 18 young people started their training at the Nürburgring. Both at the Nürburgring operating company and at the Nürburgring hotels and holiday park managed by Lindner - the training professions are correspondingly diverse. The spectrum ranges from cooks and hotel specialists to event managers and dual study programmes. Including the new members of Team Nürburgring, a total of 46 trainees are now working at the Nürburgring.

The first working day, the first photo at the new workplace: For this, the trainees lined up in front of the info°centre. This is where countless visitors come every day for tickets and information on events, tourist trips or backstage tours, and it was the end of the tour for the new arrivals, which took them around the Nürburgring site and through the various offices and departments. The excitement among the young people is great - after all, they are starting their careers at a historic and globally popular location. "I've already been to various events on site and have long been a fan of the Nürburgring on social media. Now I can actively participate in the events behind the scenes here - that was my absolute dream," says a delighted Emie van Rooijen, who is now starting as a dual student in the field of trade fair, congress and event management at Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. As she comes from the region, the Nürburgring has always played a role: "If you grow up around the Ring, you always know someone who lives out their passion here or regularly goes to events such as Rock am Ring. Ultimately, the Ring attracts world stars from the music and motorsport world and that also makes people in the region proud to be a part of it."

She is rightly looking forward to the tasks, because there will definitely be no boredom at the Ring. The race track is fully booked every day from March to mid-November - whether for the more than 50 public events at the weekends or for the many driver training sessions, vehicle tests or tourist drives. In addition, there are numerous large and small events away from the tarmac - such as trade fairs, product presentations or other company events.

The staff at the Lindner-operated Nürburgring Hotels and Holiday Park look after the guests to ensure that the participants and visitors to such events always get a good night's sleep and are well catered for. Charlotte Gehrke is starting her career as an event manager here: "I'm looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world. The Ring offers such an international environment. Who in the hotel industry can claim to start their training right next to the start and finish straight of the world's most famous race track? That makes me proud - even if I'm still a little nervous about what awaits me. The tour made me realise once again how big it all is and that thousands of visitors come here," says the 18-year-old.

To ensure that all new starters get a good start and, above all, a perfect overview of the diverse event and adventure destination Nürburgring with all its facets, the trainees initially start with two weeks of training. In addition to a presentation of the various Nürburgring companies and presentations by the departments, a visit to the Nürburgring Formula Training, the ring°kart track and an internship day at the track service or a backstage tour await them.
